Gillian's goal is to provide a safe, inviting and welcoming space for people to enjoy practicing Yoga. Having grown up in Croydon, she trained professionally as a dancer at Bird College graduating with a degree in dance and theatre performance. A love of music and movement led her to the fitness industry where she has taught many styles of classes from Zumba, Body Pump, Aqua, Cycling, Pilates to name a few. Working intensely in fitness, she became a teacher trainer for aspiring fitness instructors and taught nationally recognised vocational training such as personal training. She was responsible for the Group Exercise proposition at Virgin Active Health Clubs for seven years where she developed and brought to market new class concepts and amongst many spreadsheets and sweat in the studio, gained a Guinness World Record for the most number of people static cycling in a Spin class in over 240 studios and 6 countries at the same time! She has appeared on BBC's The Apprentice, BBC News, Good Morning Britain and held a weekly fitness column for a national newspaper. All of this physical activity led her to consider a Yoga practice to restore balance. Some challenging times and loss of loved ones then led her to consider the bigger questions: what is the purpose of the time we have here on this planet? Is there more to life than the physical reality we can see? Gillian has completed a nationally recognised Level 3 Yoga qualification with her first teacher, Jayne Nicholls. Following this, she completed the 300 hour Jivamukti Yoga training with one of the co-founders of the method, David Life in Costa Rica. She has also completed Advanced Restorative Yoga training with Adelene Cheong. She extends much gratitude to the teachers in her life, it is a privilege to share the teachings of Yoga with people in Croydon.
Julia used to think yoga wasn't for her. But the stress of City work, pesky sports injuries and a well-timed Groupon deal changed her mind. Yoga proved to be the perfect tool for building a strong foundation for other sporting activities, while also bringing much-needed peace to a busy mind. After 6 years of personal and class practice, Julia felt ready to share her love of yoga with others and completed her 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga London. Julia's classes are dynamic and strong, yet adapted to all abilities. A great lover of a challenge, Julia will encourage you to have fun, as you understand and push your personal boundaries to help you realise your full potential on and off the mat.
